Privacy Policy

This policy explains what personal information Montana Plate Co. LLC collects, how we use and share it, and the choices you have.

Last updated July 16, 2026

1. Who this policy covers

This Privacy Policy applies to montanaplateco.com (the “Site”) and to the Montana LLC formation and vehicle registration service provided by Montana Plate Co. LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”). By using the Site or our service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information we collect

Information you give us. When you submit a registration request or contact us, we collect the information you provide: your name, email address, phone number, home state, vehicle type and details (such as year, make, model, and VIN), and any notes you add. To complete a registration, we also collect the documents needed to form the LLC and title the vehicle, which may include your government-issued identification, vehicle title, purchase or lease documents, and lienholder information.

Payment information. We use Stripe to process payments. Card details are entered with and handled by Stripe; we do not store your full card number on our systems. Stripe processes this information under its own privacy terms.

Information collected automatically. When you visit the Site, we and our analytics providers automatically collect standard technical data such as your IP address, device and browser type, pages viewed, referring URLs, and interactions with the page. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see “Cookies and analytics” below).

3. How we use your information

We use personal information to:

  • respond to your request, prepare a quote, and communicate with you;
  • form your Montana LLC, act as registered agent, and title and register your vehicle;
  • process payments and send invoices and receipts;
  • send service updates, renewal and annual-report reminders, and required notices;
  • operate, secure, and improve the Site and our service; and
  • comply with law and enforce our Terms.

4. Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to run the Site and to understand how it is used. Our analytics and measurement providers currently include:

  • Google Analytics 4 and Google Tag Manager — to measure traffic and how visitors use the Site.
  • Microsoft Clarity — which uses cookies and similar technology to record session activity such as mouse movement, clicks, scrolling, and page interactions, and produces heatmaps and session replays to help us improve usability. Clarity may capture on-page behavior; we configure it to avoid capturing the content you type into form fields.

These providers process data under their own privacy policies. You can limit cookies through your browser settings and can opt out of Google Analytics using Google’s browser add-on. Where required by law, we will present a cookie banner or consent control to manage non-essential cookies.

5. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We share information only as needed to run our service:

  • Government agencies — the Montana Secretary of State and county treasurer/DMV offices, to form your LLC and title and register your vehicle.
  • Service providers — such as Stripe (payments), our email and hosting providers (including our website host, Vercel, and our email provider), and analytics providers, who process data on our behalf under confidentiality obligations.
  • Lienholders and lessors — when needed to title a financed or leased vehicle.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or to protect our rights, and in connection with a business transfer such as a merger or sale of assets.

6. How long we keep information

We keep personal information for as long as needed to provide the service, maintain your LLC and registered-agent records, and meet legal, tax, and recordkeeping obligations. Because we act as your registered agent and file entity records with the state, some records are retained for the life of the entity and for a period afterward. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer needed, subject to those obligations.

7. How we protect information

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information. Registration requests submitted through the Site are validated on our server and delivered to our team by email rather than stored in a public database. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information. To exercise a right, contact us using the details below; we will verify your request and respond within the time required by applicable law. You may designate an authorized agent to act for you. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

California residents. You may request the categories and specific pieces of personal information we collected, the purposes for collecting it, and the categories of parties with whom we shared it, and you may request deletion or correction, subject to legal exceptions.

9. Children

The Site and service are for adults and are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page.
