What happens after you send it

  1. 1
    Tell us about the vehicle

Send the year, make, model, VIN, and current title or purchase documents. Financed and leased vehicles are fine — we explain the lienholder paperwork below.

  2. 2
    We file your Montana LLC

We form a Montana LLC in your name and serve as your registered agent at our Bozeman office. Filing is submitted to the Montana Secretary of State, typically approved in one business day.

  3. 3
We title and register the vehicle

The LLC becomes the registered owner. We handle the county treasurer titling, permanent registration where eligible, and the pass-through of state fees.

  4. 4
Plates and documents ship to you

Montana plates, registration, and your LLC records are couriered to your address. Total turnaround runs 2–4 weeks from complete paperwork.

Prefer to ask something first? Email hello@montanaplateco.com and a team member replies within one business day. State filing fees and county registration fees are passed through at cost and shown on your invoice. Montana charges no sales tax on the purchase.

Common questions

Questions about the quote

Nothing is charged to build one, and every line can change before you approve it.

All questions, answered

Do I pay anything to build a quote?

No. The quote builder prices your vehicle by MSRP bracket, home state, and the add-ons you choose, then sends it to us for review. Nothing is charged until a team member confirms the paperwork and you approve the final figure. State and county fees are itemized and pass through at cost.

Can I change my quote after sending it?

Yes. The quote is a starting point, not a commitment. When a team member replies with the document checklist, you can add or remove the LLC option, temp tag, or custom plate, switch service levels, or correct the vehicle details. The final itemized figure is confirmed before any payment.

What documents do I need to register a car through a Montana LLC?

The signed title or the manufacturer's certificate of origin assigned to the LLC, a copy of your driver's license, the VIN and odometer reading, and proof of insurance with the LLC as the named insured. Financed vehicles add the lender's consent; bill-of-sale-only vehicles need a bonded title first.
